ISRM Swimming Pool Management Workshops:
These swimming pool management workshops are designed to cover all aspects of the management and operation of a modern swimming pool centre. They will focus on providing customers with a safe and enjoyable experience and one that they will wish to repeat again and again … whether it be for a regular swim or an introduction to a totally new aquatic opportunity to encourage more people into the pool.
Professor Simon Shibli, Director, the Sport Industry Research Centre (SIRC), Sheffield Hallam University, will share with you the interim report findings on ‘Everyday Swim’, the Amateur Swimming Association’s (ASA) programme to increase participation in aquatic activities. Simon will highlight some of the innovative projects which have been achieved so far to attract new target groups and reveal the absolute "do’s" and "don’ts" for the wider industry in driving up participation in swimming.
Promoting an appealing and exciting aquatic programme to entice new and existing customers to use swimming pool facilities is only one important part of the jigsaw. Managers also need to ensure they get the basics right by providing clean and well maintained changing rooms, hot and cold running showers and excellent pool water quality. ISRM National Pool Plant Operator trainers will cover the technical aspects of swimming pool operations and the very latest health and safety legislation requirements.
Are you sure you have adequate procedures in place to cater for the health and safety needs of your all your customers, reception staff and lifeguards? What are the potential consequences if you don’t? Are you making the best of all your resources and is there adequate staff training taking place, particularly for lifeguards on poolside?
The ‘open forum’ session, chaired by Ralph Riley, will provide an opportunity for these questions to be answered and for delegates to share their own experiences, whether good or bad, enabling all to learn from others’ examples of best practice. These workshop are a real must for all swimming pool facility managers!
