Diploma membership

Open to either:

  • ISRM Members that have passed the Sport and Recreation Diploma Examination or the City and Guilds Master Professional Diploma in Sport and Recreation Management and who have three years appropriate experience.
  • Applicants through the Accreditation of Prior Achievement (APA) route meeting the following requirements:
    • A minimum of five years experience at a senior level in the sport and recreation industry.
    • Accreditation of Prior Learning by attaining an appropriate Masters Degree (or equivalent) associated with the management, provision and development of sport and recreation services.
    • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).

Diploma members of ISRM are entitled to use the designatory letters 'M.Inst.SRM.Dip' – the hallmark of the qualified sport and recreation professional – which will help you gain the career advancement you deserve.

Membership benefits include:

  • Opportunities -‘Recruitment’ advertisements are circulated to full members on a bi-weekly basis. Many posts advertised in this way stipulate ISRM Membership as a pre-condition.
  • Networking and Continuing Professional Development - Regional Meetings/Seminars in your region covering all aspects of Recreation Management. Meet other managers - share problems - gain solutions - continue with your professional development - effect the workings of the region and Institute.
  • Updates - Information Notes are circulated in ISRM’s mailing which cover all aspects of sport & recreation facility management and operation from safety and technical issues to European Legislation.
  • Free Helpline - the Advisory Service aims to provide advice on any area of sport and recreation facility management and operation through information releases, written replies and a telephone helpline.
  • Members are entitled to substantial reductions on ISRM’s Conference Delegate registration. Members are also entitled to free admission to ISRM’s Exhibition.
  • Knowledge and News - all members receive a regular copy of ‘Recreation’ magazine which contains authoritative articles on all aspects of sport and recreation operational management.
  • Who’s Who in Sport & Recreation - all members are automatically listed in the Membership Handbook which is issued yearly and will receive a copy of the handbook which contains contact information for all categories of ISRM Membership.
