ISRM – why affiliate?

The Institute of Sport and Recreation Management (ISRM) is the leading national professional body for sport and recreation management and development in the UK. Based at Loughborough University, one of the UK’s sporting hubs, our mission statement is to ‘lead, develop and promote professionalism in the management of sport and recreation’. ISRM affiliation offers organisations the opportunity to stay abreast of the constant changes affecting our developing industry. As the leading sport and recreation management institute:

Corporate Affiliate: For local authorities, LEAs, trusts, health clubs, hotels, universities, governing bodies and other private sector providers of sport and recreation facilities.

By joining as an ISRM affiliate you will receive the many benefits listed below.

Benefits of affiliation

  • Cutting edge information – regular mailings containing information on meetings and policy developments, as well as ISRM’s famous ‘Information Notes’, covering health and safety, technical issues and sport and recreation management and development. Affiliates receive a hard copy of all this information.
  • ISRM website – Access to the secure members area of www.isrm.co.uk, containing a full library of ISRM information and guidance notes.
  • Advisory service – access to ISRM’s advisory service.
  • Discounts – on courses and professional development seminars, as well as on many of ISRM’s products and publications.
  • ‘Recreation’ magazine – issued 10 times a year, ‘Recreation’ contains articles on all aspects of sport and recreation provision. Affiliates also receive discounts on advertising in ‘Recreation’.
  • Members handbook – you will be included in, and receive a copy of, the ISRM Members Handbook – the definitive guide to sport and recreation management and development professionals.
  • Networking – access to the regional network of sport and recreation professionals.
  • Vocational training – advance notice of industry relevant training opportunities taking place around the country.
  • Job vacancies – industry specific job vacancies information directly mailed to your organisation. Access to a discounted rate with our partners ‘Flow Sports’ when recruiting through their service.
  • Representation – ISRM works at the highest level on behalf of its members and affiliates to influence Government, national agencies and European institutions.
  • Use of logo – entitled to use the ISRM affiliate logo on promotional material, subject to appropriate terms and conditions.

Please note that Corporate Affiliates do not receive voting rights.

Cost of being an ISRM affiliate

  • The Corporate Affiliate fee is £199 (inclusive of VAT), as at 1 March 2006.
