Sports journalism

Sports journalism encompasses all types of reportage and media coverage of current events in the world of sport. All forms of media coverage are included: press and magazines, radio and electronic media - and all the various disciplined practised - writing, commentary, reporting, interviewing and photography.

Sports journalism is highly specialised and requires specialist knowledge, but the disciplines and practices employed by a sports journalists do not differ greatly from those of a standard journalist. It is hardly surprising that the route into working in sports journalism is the same as that of any other form of journalism: training takes place either on site (most usually on a local newspaper) or through a formal course.
