ISRM conference social update85th anniversary reception Coming to conference? Start your networking early on Wednesday evening. To celebrate 85 years of the Institute’s history and achievements, delegates are invited to join ISRM’s president, trustees, members and staff for an 85th anniversary reception at the prestigious Marriott Highcliff Hotel. If we are lucky enough to get a typical English Riviera late summer’s evening you will enjoy a barbecue on the hotel’s lawn overlooking the Channel. Don’t be concerned though – there’s a backup plan in place if the weather doesn’t behave! The reception follows the Institute’s annual general meeting and offers the perfect opportunity to meet your fellow delegates and enjoy ISRM’s hospitality before the formal proceedings start on Thursday morning. The HTH ‘bash’ Work hard, play hard has always been the motto of ISRM’s conference and exhibition, and 2006 will be no exception, especially at the HTH ‘bash’. This is a very relaxed, informal evening hosted by a long-standing and valued exhibitor and supporter of ISRM. The exclusive Bar So at the Royal Exeter Hotel is this year’s venue and your ticket will include vouchers which can be exchanged for drinks at the bar. Our live band this year are “Alchemy” who will rip through their set of crowd-pleasing floor fillers, and to cap it all there’s a free HTH ‘bash’ polo shirt for everyone who attends. Interested? In your delegates’ pack will be a pre-invite from Arch Water Products. If you take this to their exhibition stand during the show on Thursday one of the staff will make sure you get a ticket. The HTH ‘bash’ is a firm favourite of delegates every year so if you’ve never been, then get your conference booking in now and look forward to a great evening out. Conference dinner The Institute’s incoming national president, John Swanson, would like to extend a warm invitation for all delegates to attend ISRM’s Conference Dinner, taking place on the Friday evening this year. We intend bringing the conference to a close with a very special evening’s dining and entertainment. Just confirmed is our after dinner speaker – Frank Dick OBE. Frank enjoyed a career as one of Britain’s most distinguished athletics coaches. His involvement at the very highest level of the British Olympic effort includes success stories such as Coe, Cram, Ovett and Moorcroft and, in particular, Daley Thompson – one of the greatest Olympians of the era. Renowned as one of the best motivational speakers working today, his presentation is highly amusing and anecdotal, but also challenging and inspirational – a perfect conclusion to our national conference. Be warned though – Frank makes uncomfortable listening for anyone prepared to accept second best! To book your place at ISRM's conference and exhibition call 01509 226484 or download the form here
