ISRM Introduction to Spa Pools - online training course

This is a computer based training programme that can be completed in approximately 2-3 hours.

Course aim

The aim of this course is to provide front line staff working in leisure facilities with a basic understanding of spa pool operation Developed in partnership with online training specialists 'Knowledge = Power' this is an easily accessible online training course providing an introduction to the health, safety and operational issues relating to spa pools. It is ideal for staff working at health clubs, hotels and fitness clubs (both public and private sector) where spa pools are operated, without ever having to leave their workplace. Candidates will need to have access to the internet to undertake this course which is wholly computer based.

Course content

The course consists of four modules:

Introduction to spas
Background to spa chemistry
Testing spas
How to use the spa pool safely

Who should enrol?

Staff who are involved in the monitoring, checking, testing and supervision of spa pools.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this course candidates should have a knowledge and understanding of:

The basic operation of spa pools
The need for and practice of maintaining spa water quality in a safe, clean and pleasant condition
The background to spa water testing and monitoring
Safe bathing in spa pools

Please note that at the end of the course there is an assessment (online) through a straightforward multiple choice test. Feedback on results is provided on completion. Candidates who attain a score of 80% at their first attempt will qualify for the ISRM Introduction to Spa Pools Certificate.
