ISRM National Spa Pool Plant Foundation Certificate
This is a one day course based upon the ISRM Operators Guide to Spa Pool Services and has been devised for staff who have not previously received training. It is less demanding than the two day course with an easier assessment which is based upon multiple choice questions.
Course aim
The aim of this course is to provide front line staff who work in facilities with spa pools with the skills and knowledge to:
- Understand how a spa pool operates
- Test the spa water
- Understand the factors that contribute to the quality of spa pool water
- Explain to spa bathers how to bathe safely
- The importance of good hygiene and cleanliness
Course content
The course consists of seven sections:
- Components of a spa pool
- Principles of spa pool water disinfection
- Operating commercial spa pools
- Effects upon the body
- Customer information
- Periodic cleaning, maintenance and record keeping
- Staff training
Who should attend?
Staff who are newly appointed and/or who have a responsibility for monitoring, checking or testing spa pools.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this qualification candidates should be able to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of:
- The importance of maintaining the quality of, spa pool water
- Spa pool water testing and the consequences of an inadequate testing regime
- The basic design and construction of commercial spa pools
- The safe operation of spas including cleaning, general maintenance and record keeping
- How to advise customers on spa bathing and ensure their health, safety and welfare
