The ISRM National Pool Plant Operators Certificate aims to build on the knowledge provided in the Foundation Certificate. By the end of the course successful candidates will be able to demonstrate achievement of the following learning outcomes:
The National Pool Plant Operators Certificate provides the necessary underpinning knowledge to understand the requirements for safe pool plant operation in today's high tech swimming pools. Positioned at Level 3 of the National Qualifications Framework, this advanced technical certificate is aimed directly at staff with some previous experience of pool water testing and plant operation.
Candidates who are successful in both the end of course assessment and work-based assignment will receive the National Pool Plant Operators Certificate qualification, valid for three years. Holders of the Certificate will be eligible (together with one year's relevant industry experience) to apply for Associate Membership of ISRM.
This course provides an industry recognised benchmark qualification for those involved in day-to-day plant operation, or responsible for the management of complex pool water treatment plant. Qualifying to ISRM National Pool Plant Operators Certificate level is a cost-effective and proven method of ensuring that a high quality pool water experience can be delivered to your customers, both in terms of their health and safety and their enjoyment of swimming and other pool related leisure activities.

The three day certificate course is broken down into 18 units:
To maintain the high regard in which ISRM qualifications are held throughout the industry, the National Pool Plant Operators Certificate includes a comprehensive two-stage assessment system.
The first stage of the assessment procedure takes place on the final day of the course, with a three-part written test including a 50 question multiple choice section and two further visual identification questions which test the candidates' understanding of the key course principles. This written test is assessed externally by ISRM HQ staff.
Upon returning to their workplaces, candidates then complete a detailed work-based assignment. These assignments are returned to the trainer/assessor for grading and internal verification before ISRM headquarters issues certificates.

Please note: Candidates attending this course without the basic knowledge or experience required will not gain the full benefits offered by the course and will risk the possibility of failing the assessment. No certificates are awarded to candidates who are unsuccessful.
ISRM National Pool Plant Operators Certificate courses offer an intensive three day learning experience. Successful candidates will have achieved a qualification at Level 3 of the National Qualifications Framework which should be seen as the benchmark for safe and efficient plant operation.
