Benefits unique to F&HE affiliates:

As part of ISRM’s strategy to engage further, both with Industry Professionals and future Industry Professionals, ISRM has developed a learning zone. We’ve identified that there are over 1840 ‘Sport’ related degree courses run each year in the UK (Source UCAS). If we multiply this up it means there are about 75,000 sports graduates coming out each year into the industry. We know that very few of these graduates actually end up working in the sport and recreation industry for any significant length of time, and even fewer end up in membership of a professional body.

We have developed the learning zone specifically as a resource for these students, with the objective of both raising the awareness of students of the value of a professional body and providing a valuable resource for their studies.

Cutting edge information – regular mailings containing information on meetings and policy developments, as well as ISRM’s famous ‘Information Notes’, covering health and safety, technical issues and sport and recreation management and development.

‘Recreation’ magazine – issued 10 times a year (4 copies per issue), ‘Recreation’ contains articles on all aspects of sport and recreation provision. Affiliates also receive discounts on advertising in ‘Recreation’.
Members directory – this is an online resource and as part of your membership your organisation will be listed here along with contact information.
Networking – access to the regional network of sport and recreation professionals.

Job vacancies – industry specific job vacancies information directly mailed to your organisation – access to a discounted rate with our partners www.leisurejobs.com.
Representation – ISRM works at the highest level on behalf of its members and affiliates to influence Government, national agencies and European institutions.
Logo – For any Sports Management degree you will be entitled to use an ISRM logo to help promote the course, any graduates from these degrees qualify directly for membership, subject to appropriate terms and conditions.

Please note that Corporate Affiliates do not receive voting rights.

How does it work?

As a F&HE Corporate Affiliate we will email you passwords for the learning zone, which you can circulate to your students, which will give them access to the learning zone for the duration of their studies (As long as you stay in membership). This can be a significant added benefit to students studying on your courses. To support the scheme we will also offer the following benefits:

We will require at least 50% of your eligible students email addresses, with these we will email them once a week (As per our members) to keep them informed of developments in our industry.
We will also invite your students to regional ISRM events (usually free of charge), to network with employers and gain valuable CPD.
Following Graduation we will invite students with sport related degrees into membership at a discounted rate for the first year.
You will receive a 4 min DVD, with an introduction from ISRM’s Chief Executive on the role of a professional body and how it can benefit graduates, this can be used on open days etc…
For any Sports Management degree you will be entitled to use an ISRM logo to help promote the course, any graduates from these degrees qualify directly for membership.
ISRM will offer the services of a ‘Guest Lecturer’ to talk to your students about a variety of relative subjects.

Costs

The Corporate Affiliate fee is £235.00 (inclusive of VAT), as at 1 January 2009. If you are a corporate member of AFPE or BUCS the corporate affiliate fee is £211.50 (including VAT). Please tick the relevant box on your application form to qualify for this discount.

(Corporate affiliate membership runs from from 1 April to 31 March each year. You will be invoiced pro-rata depending on your date of joining).
